South Park Season 7
Review by Lando da Pimp
The seventh season of South Park I believe did not have the impact of season 5 or 6 had on contemporary issues. While the episodes were funny as always they didn't provide stories as controversial.
Stand Out Episodes
Christopher Reeve visits South Park finding Jimmy jealous of all the attention that is bestowed on him. This makes Timmy and Jimmy to start a gang called the "Crips" which only allow crippled people from birth to join (Christopher Reeve was not a real crip).
South Park is Gay
With success of Queer Eye for the Straight GuyThe residents of South Park become obsessed with being metro sexuals, joining the hip "new" homosexual craze. Mr. Garrison decides that this craze must end after the kids decide to see who was more gay.
Christian Rock Hard
After Cartman is kicked out of the South Park kids' band, he forms a Christian rock band (just like Creed!) When Cartman, Butters, and Token's band Faith + 1 becomes a huge success, the others become extremely jealous. Matters don't improve when they are arrested for downloading music.
It's Christmas in Canada
When Ike's Canadian birth parents show up, wanting their baby back, the boys decide they must retrieve Kyle's little brother. Not because it's the right thing to do but, because the townspeople decide to forego Christmas and take up a collection to get Ike home.
The DVD has no real extras with the exception of commentary by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Paramount has changed the box cover art making it different from the other sets.
As a fan of the show, this is a must-have DVD. I am not as fond of season 7 compared to previous seasons. However at the time, the episode Christmas in Canada with the surprise Saddam Hussein reference was done amazingly fast, making you realize for the most part South Park, regularly provides a voice of reason on key issues. It's just a shame that this season lacked that voice.
