That's My Bush: The Definitive Collection
Review by Lando da Pimp
In the 1980’s the show Spitting Image was a satirical
puppet show that often spoofed American pop-culture and
the Reagan White House. A short-lived spin off show “The
Ronnie and Nancy Show” featured a nuclear trigger
happy Reagan. Flash forward to 2001 with another show spoofing
the Bush White House from South Park creators Trey Parker
and Matt Stone. However, like the Ronnie and Nancy show,
Bush was cancelled after eight episodes.
The Story
This political satire /sitcom focused on the fictitious
life in the George W. Bush White House. GW was portrayed
by Timothy Bottoms along with Carrie Dolin portraying First
Lady Laura Bush in this lampoon of the classic American
sitcom. The show used the typical know-it-all maid and “wacky”
next-door neighbor Larry. For sex appeal the O-So-Hot Kristen
Miller portraying the blonde bimbo secretary, Princess.

Each week the show addressed topics like gun control, the
war on drugs, gay rights, and the death penalty. Each topic
was handled in a light hearted way portraying the President
as a bumbling fool. In honor of the Honeymooners each episode
ended with George saying "One of these days Laura,
I'm gonna punch you in the face!"
Special Features
Special features are pretty light with only episode commentaries
from the cast and Matt and Trey.

Overall
I loved this show and was really sad to see it cancelled.
With the DVD I have been able to catch the episodes I missed.
While Comedy Central claims the show was cancelled because
of cost, I believe that 911, was the real reason for its
demise. At that time it was inappropriate to make fun of
the President. However, these days I think Matt and Trey
would have plenty of material to work with. Recommended.
