Activision and Namco Controller
By Jakks Pacific

Feeling the need for some 80's retro 8-bit game play? 8-bit games are very addicting. If there is one 8-bit game that I could never get enough of it was Activision's Pitfall. I would spend hours swinging over water, jumping over pits, and avoiding the damn snakes making my way to the gold and silver bars.
A few weeks ago I reviewed the Jakks-Pacific Atari TV Games and loved the idea of playing the old Atari games using the original Atari controller. Because Pitfall was an Activision game it wasn't included on the Atari system. But now Toymax / Jakks Pacific has released a TV Games version for the Activision games. The handheld game pad has 10 Activision games built into it. The system easily connects to your TV by simply plugging the audio and video ends of the cable into the corresponding TV/VCR jacks. The modern style console controller is fitted with two standard up-down-left-right cursors, as well as left and right "fire" buttons. The system contains the following games: Pitfall, Grand Prix, River Raid, Ice Hockey, Atlantic, Spider Fighter, Boxing, Crackpots, Tennis, Freeway.
While people who grew up in the 80's will love this system, kids these days haven't experienced simple games like Pitfall. River Raid, and Atlantis. They can still be a challenge. This month at the first annual Millionaire Playboy BBQ we had a Pitfall gaming event. We tested people to see how long they could last. Most games only lasted about a minute. Participants in the Pitfall gaming event played to win the third Jakks Pacific game system, the Namco TV Games System.
The Namco TV Games is similar to the Activision and Atari system with the exception that it is based on the Coin-Ops found at local arcades. The controller is a perfect clone of a video arcade game joystick. The joystick is raised with the round ball at the top with a red fire button. The high point of this system is that it contains everybody's favorite yellow pie shape, Pac Man. Here you can relive your favorite 8-bit action of eating pellets and chomping down on the ghosts while you attempt to grab the strawberries and other floating fruit. The Namco system also includes these arcade classics: Dig Dug, Galaxin, Rally-X, and Bosconian
80's nostalgia is very popular these days. Its hard to believe that even though games are a lot more complex games like Pitfall and Pac Man are still exciting.
