Rockstar Game's Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition

I have to admit that I am not a racing game fan. Hell my car is falling apart and I could care less. Rockstar Games sent me their new release Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition and damn is it fun.

Midnight Club 3 is a very entertaining arcade racing game with a number of car customizations that I have never seen before in a game. MC3 offers a full range of street vehicles including over 60 fully licensed vehicles all of which are fully customizable in both style and performance. After customizing your vehicle you compete head to head in a number of cities including Detroit, Atlanta and San Diego.

A majority of the races are checkpoint races with checkpoints scattered all over the area. In some instances taking a wrong path will take you too long to get to the checkpoint. Figuring out the best path for each race is a challenge. Point-to-point races and timed races are also available to provide a variety of game play.

The exciting part of this game is that it's environment is far from realism. Large jumps and outrageous speeds create exaggerated crashes that are a lot of fun to watch. If you wreck a number of times your vehicles still has a good chance of catching up and winning the race.

Each vehicle in Midnight Club 3 can have one of three different abilities. Speedier vehicles can use an effect that slows down time; while large intimidating cars easily knock cars in front of you out of your way; and the remaining cars have the ability to inflict massive damage to other vehicles. I found the special abilities of the vehicles to not always be effective. Slowing down time slows down a bit too much while inflicting damage on other vehicles is not enough to stop the competing vehicles.

This doesn't seem to be your stereotypical street racing game. None of the annoying The Fast and the Furious lifestyle and scantily clad women on the car hoods, are present. The game is very customizable giving you the opportunity to never play the same way twice. Midnight Club 3 is an intense and enjoyable game that will definitely satisfy fans of the genre and non-racing fans.
