Mortal Kombat!!! The blood cry is heard for miles around. Many will enter the Iron Fist tournament, but only one can be King. Will it be you? Who will be your kombatant? Only dedication, practice, and a love of carnage will earn you the title.
In this game developed by the original creative team, headed up by Ed Boone, you will test more than your fighting prowess. Although, that's a big part. The game is just like you remember, but with a serious upgrade. The main goal is to beat everyone's butt until there is no one left. Sounds simple. But it's not. It'll take practice to learn the skills needed to accomplish your goal. But the practice is half the fun.
The game has the original Arcade mode where you can play either the CU or a friend. You will have 21 fighters to choose from, containing some old favorites as well as a heavy dose of new kombatants. Each fighter has three different fighting styles, with one being weapons, that you can switch to any time of the match. And yes, the Fatalities are in full force. Also, the blood level has been kicked up. Expect the floor to be smeared at the end of a match. Interspersed throughout the levels are Test Your Might- where you mash the buttons as fast as you can to break an object ranging from bamboo to diamond, and Test Your Sight- which makes you play the ol' follow the ball under the cup game. This breaks up the game play very nicely. There is also a notable Konquest mode where you travel a journey to learn the ins and outs of your moves. Each character has a different story which is told in their ten stage travel. Every battle, test, or level of your Konquest earns you koins. You can spend these in the krypt, where there are a whopping 676 coffins containing unlockables! This is where you find your new characters, 2nd costumes, and various other things.
Also included on the DVD are two documentaries. One is a "typical" day in the office during production of the game. Very cool. Also, there is a history of MK documentary. Very nice touches to polish off the package.
The game is great. As near to perfect as a fighting game can be. Smooth, wonderfully lit, as varying game-play a fighter can have, tight controls, and a high frame rate! You can really tell that the team worked hard to make this game a bloody good time.
