At
our 6th annual Ka-POW-bq we added a new game, the
NERF shoot out. NERF was generous enough to donate a handful
of NERF N-STRIKE Recon CS-6 guns for us
to use. I purchased a few extra clips and a mess of Streamline
darts (the suction cup ones get jammed in the clips)
from the Hasbro
Toy Shop. These guns are fully customizable, you
can rearrange the "laser" scope, you can store an extra
clip, and purchase a "night vision scope" to clip on anywhere
you choose.
For the game I set up 10 table tents with at target on one side, and a point value on the back. That way the shooters didn't know if they were aiming at a 5 or a 10. We also had a few targets to win a Dark Queen bust from the Jim Henson movie Mirror Mask. These busts were generously provided by Things From Another World. If you nailed one of those, you're an instant winner.
With
this set up, as many people could play that wanted to. We
had a sign up, and went down the list. We had two guns prepped,
so that we could load one gun while the other was being
shot. After everyone shot, we tallied the scores. The two
highest scores (25 - tie) each got a new, unopened CS-6
to take home, plus an accessory, like a night vision scope
or the refill clip. Some of the other high score earners
got the opened guns that we were playing with, the Super
Soaker Bottle Shot that takes any normal water
bottle, and one lucky winner got the Peyton Manning
Vortex Ultra light football (see the video for
footage)
