Mojito Cubanas
There're dozens of recipes out there, as usual, but the core
ingredients for a mojito are:
- Light Rum
- Lime Juice
- Club Soda
- Mint Leaves
- Simple Syrup
P.S. Do NOT use Mojito Club rum. It rubs, man. Trust
me.
Take abotu 3 or 4 mint leaves and lightly BRUISE them in
the bottom of a highball. Bruise. Did you see that?
Don't mash 'em for crying out bloody sideways. If you don't
know how to bruise a mint leave without mashing it, this
is probably too complicated for you and you should go drink
a Bud light or something. Sheesh. Did I mention I thought
you guys were cool?
Toss some ice into the glass.
Squeeze a few limes. Put a couple of tablespoons into the
highball.
Dump in some rum. I'm sure I don't have to tell ya how
much. Use your head, right? You wanna not only taste it,
but feel it eventually, but leave room for the rest of the
ingredients, savvy? Good.
Club soda. Uh...yeah. Dump some of that in. A little more
than how much rum you put in. Stir it up and take a sip.
Got it? Good.
Simple syurp. Equal parts sugar and water. Boil it. Stir
it. Put enough into the glass to sweeten it to your liking.
Take a sip. Good enough? Good.
That's a Mojito. Good stuff. Nice and light. Sounds cool.
Chicks dig 'em (trust me).
If you didn't get past the bruised mint leaves and you're
kicking back with that bud light then you don't deserve
to even be reading this.
Mojito Bonus points: Did I mention Mojito Cubans? As in
cuba? As in rock solid cigars (The Smoke)? Ah hah.

The Consolation Prize
As featured in the October 10th Washington Post article
about MPb.
Ingredients:
- Favorite whiskey (I prefer Jim Beam)
- Orange juice (low pulp)
- Frozen lemonade concentrate (slushy stuff)
Add two parts orange juice, two parts lemonade
concetrate, one part whiskey, stir and serve in a
tall glass.
Tips:
- you can use this ratio to make it by the pitcher or
by single serving.
- Give everyone their own stirrer, if they are social
sippers, the whiskey may settle at the bottom.
- The beauty of this drink is you can vary the ammount
of whiskey, and the lemonade-OJ combo will mask the taste
pretty well. Bottoms up!
B-52
This mixed drink, the B-52, is not only delicious, but it's
good for guys or gals. Sweet, hardly any kick and gets the
job done in a few.
Equal parts:
- Kahlua, Bailey's (or cheaper Irish cream substitute)
- Grand Marnier
Mix 'em in the order of a dyslexic russian, KBG.
Pour one after another into a shot glass, or down the interior
wall so that they don't mix, and instead pile on one another.
Your choice.
Perfect Martini
If you feel like getting a shaker/strainer, there is a great
one here
for twenty bucks. As for the oh-so-important Spanish olives,
they're really easy to find, they're right there at the grocery
store with all of the others. And the Brine is just fancy
talk for olive juice; which, conveniently, the olives are
soaking in.
Ingredients:
- 3 oz. Vodka
- 1.5 oz. Vermouth
- 1 tsp. Olive Brine
- 3 Olives (preferably Spanish Olives)
Put a handful of ice into a shaker and add the vermouth.
Shake, pour into a martini glass, swirl and discard into
the sink. Pour the Vodka into the shaker and the olive brine,
and shake until you can't bare the chill. Pour into the
martini glass, add three small or two large Spanish olives,
and serve.
I had this drink, and it's fairly salty. I'm sure if you
don't like it that strong, just use less OJ (olive juice).
Cheers...Tuxxer
