Imagine Dragons “Smoke & Mirrors” Tour

id15_15
Imagine Dragons touched down in Washington DC for their Smoke & Mirrors tour. The crowd was besides themselves, and Dan stood several moments, awestruck, as he took in the crowd at the Verizon Center. Click below for more pics.

Nightsbridge at Ram’s Head Live

nightsbridge_11

Nightsbridge was one of the first bands I ever shot, way back at Towson’s Recher Theater. The theater is no longer a rock venue (Nightsbridge headlined their final show), and Nightsbridge has been moving up, appearing frequently on 98 Rock’s Noise in the Basement, and a rising fixture on the Baltimore scene. They’ve got a heavy rock STP or AC|DC sound.

Bad Seed Rising at Ram’s Head Live

bsr_22

Bad Seed Rising is one of the promising stars in Baltimore’s rock scene. Already signed to Road Runner Records, they’re the ones to watch. Their young age may seem like a novelty, but once you witness them live, in person, you’ll know that they’re so much more than a gimmick. I first shot them at the Charm City Fest back in 2012 and was blown away then. They’ve only grown and gotten an even stronger hold of the stage since then. Check out BadSeedRisingband.com for more videos and upcoming dates.

BUSH live

bush_02

As the ultimate sign of how far we’ve come as MillionairePlayboy.com, I was in the pit shooting BUSH on our twelfth anniversary of launching the pop culture site. I’ve been a big fan of BUSH for years, ever since Sixteen Stone hit my ears, freshman year of college. I remember putting that CD in my stereo and not needing to swap it out for another disk for days at a time. Click below for more pics.

GWAR Comes to Baltimore

Balsac the Jaws of Death

GWAR appeared in Baltimore this past weekend on their 2014 Eternal Tour. They addressed the absence of lead singer Oderus Urungus, and introduced Blothar and Vulvatron, each capable of spewing their own fluids all over the audience. I don’t think a first-timer would have a lesser experience with the new line-up. It was different, but it wasn’t for better or for worse. The crowd seemed to completely enjoy it, and it did sell out, so the fans are still there, and they’re still cracking their heads to rock out with the best scumdogs in the universe. Click below for my photos, which should at least induce internal bleeding.

Primus at the Hippodrome

Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble

Photos by Paul Frederiksen, words by Ben Moore

Primus, back to its original lineup, played the Hippodrome at the France in Baltimore, MD October 29th to a packed house. Primus opened their first set with “Those Damned Blue-Collared Tweakers” on a sparse stage set. The first set consisted of an amazing hour of their biggest hits from throughout their career including “John the Fisherman,” “Groundhog’s Day,” and concluding with “Jerry Was a Racecar Driver.”

Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble

After a short intermission, the curtains opened to an elaborate Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory-themed set and the addition of a xylophonist and a cellist to add to the sound of the second set, where Primus played through their latest album, Primus & The Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble, covering all the music from the classic film “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.” Highlights included the various Oompa Loompa ditties where a pair of Oompa Loompas came out to dance. Throughout the set, a screen played edited scenes corresponding to the song going on.

Primus finished with a short encore, closing a great night with fan favorite “Too Many Puppies.”

Bleachers at 9:30 Club

Jack Antonoff
We had a great time at the Bleachers concert at 9:30 Club. Jack Antonoff (of fun.) brought a ton of energy and had the young crowd jumping and singing along. The way they cut into I want to get better at the end was masterful. It was an unforgettable evening. Click below for pics, and our snaplapse video.

Slash & Aerosmith at Jiffy Lube Live

Slash

One of my favorite acts to shoot, ever returned to the DC area this weekend, and I was there taking pics. Slash, featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators opened for Aerosmith, and it was an amazing concert. I got to shoot Slash near the beginning of my photographic career, and it was great getting to revisit such a milestone. Check out my pics below.
