DC Comics editor Matt Idelson has now proclaimed “I never want to see Supergirl’s panties again!” No longer will comic book fans be teased with the thought of what is under her skirt, but now what is under those bicycle shorts. Yes, Matt Idelson is so obsessed with the though of sexualizing Supergirl that he wants her to wear bike shorts.
NPR reported this important story. What is wrong with the sexualization of comic book superhero’s? Especially the women characters? As a kid I wanted my female superhero’s to be big busted, near nude, teasing females! What’s next they are gonna take away Minnie Mouse’s panties?
Ok seriously. Is this really a problem? Why does Matt think its important to put some shorts on her. Comic books are fantasy. This was something they would do in the 50′s and 60′s. I would think this day an age we are past censoring comics. Thats what this is, censoring.
I want to see Supergirl’s panties DAMMIT! Or if she is forced to remove them, make that an issue all in itself.
