Joss Whedon’s first epic feature follows from the canceled series Firefly, taking place shortly after the events of the final episode. Serenity tells the story of the Captain Malcom Reynolds and the crew of the transport and cargo ship Serenity. The crew begins to investigate the secrets of River Tam.
Special Features
Picture in Picture: Featuring new interviews with the cast and crew along with behind the scenes footage of filming.
Visual Commentary: Here you can now watch Joss and the cast give their commentary. This is the same commentary from the collectors edition.
Alliance Database: A nice datebase of information on the planets, people and history of the Verse. Very hard to read this much text on screen
Deleted Scenes: 9 deleted scenes totaling 13-minutes are available with or without commentary with Joss Whedon.
Outtakes: A fun blooper reel of the cast goofing around. Just fun.
Featurettes: The small featurettes of Future History, What’s in a Firefly , Re-Lighting the Firefly, A Filmmaker’s Journey, Joss Whedon Introduction, Take a Walk on Serenity, The Green Clan are the exactly the same from the Serenity Collector’s Edition Set.
Blu-Ray Stats
The film is presented in 2.35:1 1080p video and lossless 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. The film looks Beautiful.
Overall
I am always happy to buy new versions of my favorite films. However, I wish that Universal would have put more money in to creating new making of featurettes. The special features are not worth buying this, but watching the film in High Definition is worth the price alone! BUY IT
