This weekend I was fortunate to catch one of the best concerts of the year. Star Wars in Concert it an amazing spectacle that is sure to please any fan of George Lucas’ epic. I did have some reservations about orchestra music played in a stadium. It’s not really the best setting for a symphony concert. Turns out, I had nothing to worry about.

London’s Royal Philharmonic Concert orchestra play John Williams musical scores with the same excitement you get while watching the music play under the films. The orchestra plays under a huge screen showing videos telling the story of Star Wars under the direction of maestro Dirk Brosse. If that wasn’t enough the sound from the films, laser light shows, and the occasional flaming torch all add to making the concert as epic as the movies.
In between pieces, Anthony Daniels tells the story of Anakin as a young man who turns into Darth Vader. Daniels is excellent at the art of storytelling. Even though we all know the story, there is something new to the way he tells it.
