Monster Jam’s Matt Cody

Blue Thunder

We got to chat with the driver of Blue Lightning, and winner of DC’s 2017 Freestyle Contest, Matt Cody. Monster Jam is headed to the Capital One Arena in Washington DC this weekend with three bone rattling shows. We’re happy to cheer on Matt, as he hails from Williamsport, MD, just up the road from the Capital Beltway. In fact Cody first fell in love with Monster Jam because his parents and grandparents would take him to the nearby Hagerstown Speedway on his birthday to watch all the monster truck action. Click below for the interview.

2016 Toy Fair Report – Diamond Select Toys

IMG_6536

So many wonders to behold at the DST booth this year. My favorite is the opening Shakespeare bust from stately Wayne Manner. It even functions as a bank, to help you on your path to becoming a millionaire playboy. Once you pick this up, check out our plans to build your own batphone. Retailing at under $200, you’ll get your every Penny’s worth. Ok, I’m sorry.

Lots of cool new Back to the Future mini-mates are headed your way this year. Check out our gallery for pics of the 1950’s Western Marty, 1980’s track-suit Biff, 1950’s peeping tom George, and more. But we really liked these much larger, and slightly animated Vinimates. This Doc and Marty look fantastic, but also check out the X-Files, Aliens, Ghostbusters, and Predator ones as well. These are 4″ high, made of vinyl, and should cost you about $10 a pop.

Don’t stop there, keep reading and check out our gallery below.

2016 Toy Fair Report – DC Collectables

IMG_6342-001
The one showroom that reminds me of the glory days of Toy Fair (this is my 14th) is the DC Collectables offering. I love all the sculpts and accessories, and the depth of characters they represent. Of course the big star this year was Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad. We looooove this Harley. They also had new figures from Batman the Animated Series, and Batman: Arkham Night.

Tons of glorious pics in our gallery below, check it out!

Snoop Dogg at Echo Stage

422snoop_08

This was only my second time getting to see Snoop Dogg live. It was amazing. It was life changing. And I’m not just saying that because I was backstage. There is one thing I have to say to people about going to a Snoop concert. If you have the opportunity, you have to go. You have to do it at least once. The man is a superstar. There is a reason he’s been A-list for 20+ years. It’s an experience. Click below for pics…

2016 AwesomeCon starts Tomorrow

day2_06

We’re super excited for AwesomeCon, Washington DC’s premiere con. The glue is hardly dry on my cosplay (reveal coming later) but you can bet my son and I and some friends are going to be tearing up the aisles looking for awesome deals on TPBs, snagging some missing back issues, chilling with the 501st in the Star Wars area, and hoping that somebody has Garbage Pail Kids. Will we see Adam West or Bill Nye The Science Guy in person?? Will Kevin Smith remember me? Will the R2DC builders have a BB-8?

This link gets you tickets. See you there!

Check out our prior years coverage if you need any more convincing.

Imagine Dragons “Smoke & Mirrors” Tour

Imagine Dragons touched down in Washington DC for their Smoke & Mirrors tour. The crowd was besides themselves, and Dan stood several moments, awestruck, as he took in the crowd at the Verizon Center. Click below for more pics.
