Essential Seven Police Academy Obligatory Moments

With the death of Bubba Smith this week, I got nostalgic, and watched a few of the Police Academy films. The humor was always juvenile, but I loved it. After an enjoyable Police Academy marathon, I was inspired to write this weeks list about the franchise. So what made up a good Police Academy film? Well here are the Essential Seven Police Academy Obligatory moments:

Essential Seven Women Who Should Be On Your Freebie List! 2011 Edition

ross

In 2009, I wrote an Essential Seven List based on the episode of Friends entitled “The One With Frank Jr.” In the episode, Ross created a freebie list; celebrities they can sleep with, without your wife or girlfriend getting upset. No consequences! A majority of the episode focused on Ross deciding who should be on his list.

Now two years later, because we are guys, we need to update that list. Ross had his list laminated not allowing it to change. We say its important to update the list.

We also want to stress: There is absolutely no condition where we would touch anyone other than our wife / girlfriend and we are disgusted at the concept. Having indemnified ourselves here is who we would bang:

Essential Seven Deathly Hallows, Part 2 Expectations

The final Harry Potter film hits theaters today, and I have a lot of expectations for this film! Over the years writers and directors have taken liberty with the source material, some good, and some bad. I understand the need to tweak certain scenes to adapt them to film. I also have some high expectations of things that can’t be screwed up. Key scenes, moments, and character development will be very important in this film. It is the last one!  That is why this week, I’ll drink a few butterbeers, and list the Essential Seven Deathly Hallows, Part 2 Expectations:

WARNING THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS. IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOK, OR SEEN THE FINAL FILM, STOP READING!!!!

Essential Seven Franchise Remakes / Reboots That Worked

Early this week the trailer for the Footloose remake hit the web. The question has to be asked does a remake of a successful film from the ’80s need to be made? Obviously the answer is no. It shows the lack of creativity with Hollywood. That doesn’t mean that remakes / reboots are bad. I think some franchise’s need a good reboot in the ass. Franchise’s become stale, and need a new point of view. Remaking a previous Essential Seven list, here are the Essential Seven Franchise Remakes / Reboots That Worked:

Essential Seven Weirdest Green Lantern Corps

The Green Lantern film is finally here, and the question on every geeks mind is it good? According to Rotten Tomatoes is sucks. I’m curious what the public response will be to the film. The Green Lantern world can be very confusing, and may not play well to all audiences. With Ryan Reynolds as the star, I’m not holding my breath that it is any good.

I was a casual Green Lantern reader. I didn’t collect the books, but I was familiar with the basic story. What I didn’t know is how weird the stories got. In doing some research into the Lantern Corps, I discovered that the ring doesn’t really examine the weirdness of its bearer. With that in mind, we take a look at the Essential Seven Weirdest Green Lanterns:

Essential Seven Thoughts on the Finale of Smallville

Sorry that this list is a few weeks old. I didn’t get a chance to finish it before I went on vacation. I’m glad I didn’t because it allowed me to re-watch the finale. Smallville was overall a great show. I loved the idea of focusing on Clark and his journey of becoming Superman. I just wish it didn’t take so damn long! For years the CW has teased us, standing behind their rule of no tights, no flight! Now that the show is over I have some final thoughts. For 10 seasons I have had a love / hate relationship with the show. That love / hate relationship concluded with the last episode. I didn’t hate it, but I have a lot of things that just felt wrong. I also had moments that fueled my love for Superman. Finally happy I have an extra free hour each week, here are my Essential Seven Thoughts on the Finale of Smallville:

Essential Seven Famous Homes

Last week the Home Alone (I would love to buy it) house went up for sale. That got me thinking about what it must be like to live in a house that was a location of a feature movie or TV. What is it like to have people standing on the street photographing your home? People love visiting these places. For some films or TV shows everybody can instantly recognize the exterior of a famous house. So what are some of the most famous homes? That’s what this weeks Essential Seven Famous Homes is about:

Essential Seven Cartoons Based on “R” Rated Movies

A weird thing started happening with cartoons in the ’80s. Studios began producing cartoons based on “R” rated films. Movies that kids aren’t allowed to see suddenly showed up on Saturday mornings in toon form. Why? Well I assume the thinking that if the concept works for adults, tone down the language, violence, and nudity and you have an instant kid classic! Take the film Friday. The film revolves around Craig Jones (Ice Cube) and Smokey (Chris Tucker), who must pay a drug dealer $200 by Friday night. Wow, that sounds like a show kids should see! With a big giant face palm to the face, here are the Essential Seven Cartoons Based on “R” Rated Movies:

Essential Seven Unanswered Anakin Questions?

Our final Star Wars Unanswered Questions focuses on Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader. The original trilogy provided only a few glimpses of who Anakin was. We learned that he turned to the darkside, but never learned why. Did it matter? Not until the prequels were made. The original trilogy told the story of Luke, while the prequels focused on Anakin’s story. His betrayal left so many unknowns that we feature the Essential Seven Unanswered Anakin Questions:
