Essential Seven Lamest Batman (1966) Villains

The Adam West Batman TV show was always incredibly corny, and at times just plain odd. Each week different celebrities made appearances as the different villains who put Batman and Robin in danger, forcing them to find stupid escape methods. While some of the villains were enjoyable, a few were ridiculous with strange schemes that was quite embarrassing to watch. That is why this week we feature the Essential Seven Lamest Batman (1966) Villains:

Essential Seven Greatest Moments From The Young Ones

One of the most brilliant television comedies of all time was the BBC show The Young Ones. I first became aware of Rik, Vyvyan, Neil, and Mike in the early ’80s when the show was shown on MTV. The show played at 11:30 PM on Saturday nights before Headbangers Ball. This was when MTV was great. Sadly, the BBC only produced twelve episodes of the series. This weeks list focuses on the greatest moments from the show. Choosing them was a very difficult task. After much debate, I narrowed down the Essential Seven Greatest Moments From The Young Ones:

Essential Seven Summer Camps

Summer Camp is a great place for kids to learn about life. They are great places for educational and cultural development. However, not every camp is a safe and nurturing environment. The reality is that most kids come away with learning about the birds and the bees, and at some camps never leave! That is why this week I identify the Essential Seven Summer Camps

Essential Seven ’80s Power Ballads

There’s just something about summer that makes me go back to those great (and not so great) power ballads of the 1980s. It may be that I spent most of my summers in the 1980s watching Mtv and riding around the neighborhood on my bike with a boom box blasting Motley Crue and Poison songs. Whatever it is, I do love a good power ballad on a hot summer day. Several summers ago, just as YouTube started up, I revisited many power ballad videos that I hadn’t seen in nearly 15 years and came to love the goofy world contained within them. In fact, after watching several of the videos on this list, I remember walking out to my car and wishing that I could stop in the middle of the road and shred a really awesome solo while wearing a leather duster without a shirt on underneath (the uniform required for a power ballad to assert one’s masculinity).

So, I thought it might be fun to compile my Essential Seven Power Ballads. Please note, I prefer to use the term “power ballad,” as opposed to “hair ballads,” as I would not call all of the bands on this list hair bands. Oh, and don’t tell me that I forgot Damn Yankees’ “High Enough.” It was released in 1990.

Essential Seven Overused and Now Annoying Movie Quotes

Everybody knows that person who quotes a movie to the point where it becomes annoying. This person (or possibly you) will integrate a movie quote into their everyday vocabulary sometimes imitating the characters voice. I admit that I am guilty of this practice.  Sadly, I have a friend who constantly overuses movie quotes. Even using the line “I am your father!.” This would be fine if he was actually a father. With my friend as the model, I have identified the Essential Seven Overused and Now Annoying Movie Quotes: …continue reading Essential Seven Overused and Now Annoying Movie Quotes

Essential Seven Comedy Sequels

I love a good film sequel. Familiar characters set in another story, can really take you back as to why you love the original. Action, sci-fi, and fantasy are typically the three top sequel genres. Comedy films however, have a really bad record for “good” sequels. An example of this is Caddyshack 2. Not only was the film unneccesary, but they even tried to recreate the character of Carl using Dan Aykroyd! A good sequel to a comedy film is rare. That is why this weeks list is the Essential Seven Comedy Sequels:

(Note. I only focused on comedy films only. Films like Ghostbusters 2, Back to the Future 2, while funny are also Sci-fi/ fantasy)

Essential Seven Worst Sci-fi Movie Deaths

Science Fiction fans are very passionate about the genre. A beloved characters death can turn away hardcore fans if its not done right. If the writers and directors craft a good story then a death of a character will be accepted by fans. However, movie studios are greedy. Sci-fi films are rushed through production to gain a quick profit. They ignore the storytelling throwing money towards big effects to help sell the film to the general audience. Big budget effects movie usually have a nice return, but limit the possibility of future sequels by ignoring the core audience who support it. Next week we will look at the good Sci-fi movie deaths. This week we look at the bad, the Essential Seven Worst Sci-fi Movie Deaths:

Essential Seven Pixar Moments

Beginning with Toy Story in 1995 Pixar has released some of the most wondrous animation. The films have pushed the limits of computer animation without sacrificing good story telling. Toy Story, Cars, Monsters Inc., UP, and Wall-E are just a few examples of Pixar’s accomplishments. With Toy Story 3 opening in theaters, I take a look back at the Essential Seven Pixar Moments:
