LOS ANGELES, Ca. – Coming this Thanksgiving holiday weekend to The Hub, a cable network for kids and their families, is a special two-part premiere of the new half-hour, action-adventure animated series “G.I. Joe Renegades,” Friday, November 26. The Hub is a joint venture of Discovery Communications and Hasbro, Inc., and is available to 60 million U.S. cable and satellite households.
The new animated series, a re-imagining of the popular, original series “G.I. Joe A Real American Hero,” takes viewers back to the origins of the G.I. Joe storyline, in which the world’s most elite renegade force of highly trained specialists are forced to band together to prevent their nemesis, the evil forces of Cobra Industries, from achieving global domination.
Hasbro has released the first look at the new GI-JOE cartoon. The HUB Network website also has the following description:
Branded as renegades for crimes they did not commit, a heroic group of young G.I.s is forced to “turn fugitive” as they battle to clear their names, and expose the evil that is COBRA Industries — a seemingly benevolent mega-corporation covertly controlled by a rogues gallery intent on creating a New World Order.
Apparently the original story of who GI-Joe is wasn’t good enough and now they just substituted it with the A-Team.
Revered Hasbro Property is Honored at State Capital, Kicking Off Start of Annual G.I. JOE Convention
Providence, RI – April 30, 2010 – The world’s first action figure comes home to Rhode Island for the 17th annual G.I. JOE Convention, hosted by the G.I. JOE Collectors’ Club and Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS). To celebrate the homegrown hero and its fans, Rhode Island Governor, Donald L. Carcieri, proclaimed today as “G.I. JOE Day” as Rhode Island schoolchildren were on hand for the celebration in the State House rotunda. The Governor was also joined by Hasbro’s President and CEO, Brian Goldner, as well as 250 parachuting G.I. JOE action figures that descended from the upper level of the domed structure, kicking off the official and largest convention of G.I. JOE enthusiasts.
The good G.I. JOE movie is now hitting Blu-Ray. Brian Ward, Shout! Factory’s DVD producer, tweeted:
“So the print’s in excellent condition. Looks like we’ll be doing GI JOE: THE MOVIE on Blu-ray” and “…the end credits for GI JOE: THE MOVIE finally came in. Gonna have a complete HD transfer!”
I love the old G.I. JOE film. I already own a copy on DVD, but I would love to see it in HD!
