A few weeks ago I made an Essential Seven Female Action Figure Wishlist. On the the list I included the character of Joan Holloway. Well, now Mattel is taking it one step closer with a Barbie doll of the Mad Men characters. The initial run will include (left to right) Joan Holloway, Roger Sterling, Don Draper and Betty Draper. The dolls run is limited to 10,000 each, and will only be available on the Barbie Collector site. No word on the inclusion of cigarette and martini accessories.
I’m sad though that the Joan Holloway doesn’t do Christina Hendricks amazing body justice. For years people have bitched about how “real” women don’t have a Barbie figure. They finally have a woman who does and they fail to give her the breasts the doll deserves. I’m not the only one who have noticed this.
MattyCollector posted a Ghostbusters update on Facebook :
Hey Slime Fans,
I wanted to jump in and give a quick update on what is going on with the GB line in 12″ and 6″ scale. We’ve had a few delays in release dates, but all six 6″ figures and the Peter and Winston 12″ figures are still set for release in 2010.
Orignally we had intended for a new 6″ figure to ship ever 2-3 months. But, inevitably due to circumstances well beyond our control we had a few hickups (this is why we don’t do preorders for any of our lines!). But we are back online now and 6″ Walter Peck is scheduled to hit Mattycollector.com in May. This will be followed by Slimed Peter in June and Labcoat Ray in Aug.
12″ Peter will hit in April followed by Winston in Aug.
We’re running a bit behind but by the end of the year we should be caught up and ready for even more Ghostbuster fun in 2011!
There will be three more 6″ figure for 2010 yet to reveal plus a really great SDCC item that will knock your socks off! The Ghostbuster fun has only yet begun – only on Mattycollector.com!
(Explicit) For those of you who aren’t familiar withBubba the Love Sponge, he is a radio personality in Tampa Florida, and the afternoon guy on Howard Stern’s Sirius 101. This call is a few years old, but Ned who is on Bubba’s staff called Mattel about the Barbie Tattoo doll.
If you’re a WWE® fan, I’ve got huge news: Mattel is going to launch a whole line of World Wrestling Entertainment® (WWE®) products! If you’re a WWE fan, I’ve got huge news: Mattel is going to launch a whole line of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) products!
Highly-detailed figures, belts, rings, and more will be in stores January 1, 2010! They’ll be insanely accurate in scale, detail, and WWE authenticity. The Superstar figures have tattoos that show even when they’re fully articulated, and the first 1,000 of each WWE basic figure for 2010 will come with one of 1,000 consecutively numbered die-cast commemorative WWE Championship Belts.

Elite Collection
My design friends at Mattel talked to a lot of collectors to find out what they want, and the Elite Collection is the result. Watch for fan-favorite Superstars and Divas in 2010 that’ll come with a personalized stand and authentic ring attire.
Entrance Greats™
Everyone loves ring entrances! We’ve captured all the excitement with figures packed out in their entrance outfits from epic WrestleMania® battles and a base that plays their music!
FlexForce™ Action Figures
We know kids dig WWE, too, so there’s a ton of toys just for them. The figures can do authentic moves just like a Superstar, and kids can stage matches in the Breakdown Brawl Ring. There’ll be accessories, too, like tables, ladders, and chairs.
Our friends over at ActionFigureInsider.com has some great new shots of the MattyCollector 12″ Ray Stantz Ghostbuster figure. My first reaction was the amazing details put into the figure. Check out ActionFigureInsider.com for more photos!
Avatar week continued into the weekend with Mattel unveiling all of the Avatar action figures on their Flickr stream. I didn’t get a chance to see the footage shown on Friday. Truthfully, I wasn’t all the impressed with the trailer. Now looking at the toys, I really just don’t care.
Sadly we didn’t make it to Comic Con this year, so we have no coverage. It seems this wasn’t the best year in terms of news or exclusives. However, I looked around the web and found some of the best highlights:
Hasbro wants to know if they should make the Darth Vader Funeral Pyre. I say yes (via ActionFigureInsider)
Oh man, this is BIG… the design team at Mattel just announced the first book in their “Designed @ Mattel” series and it’s a MOTU art book!
The book shows off the fantastic art of the MOTU brand from 1981 through current day. It’s packed with never-before-seen Mattel concept art, behind-the-scenes notes, posters, oil paintings, and a whole lot more from across the brand. All that MOTU art from over the years is mighty sweet, but the book also premiers concept art from new projects, like a proposed live action film!
It’s a soft-cover edition, limited to only 1,000 numbered copies. Each one comes with a numbered cover ribbon and an embossed seal. The first place they’ll be available is San Diego Comic-Con. Purchases will be limited to two per guest, per wait in line. And get this… you can even have your copy signed by the Mattel artists at the show!
If any units remain after the show they may be sold on MattyCollector.com, but honestly, we expect to sell out at SDCC. Be sure to come by the MattyCollector.com booth early for your chance to own a piece of MOTU history!
Coming July 1st! So remember that day when you didn’t get Alexander Luthor and Ultraman? Well guess what! You get a second chance. On Matty’s Collector Facebook page this was posted today!
Our second shipment of Alex Luthor and Ultraman has just arrived. This Earth 3 DCU two pack will go back on sale this Wednesday July 1st at 12:00 noon!
Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of the release of Ghostbusters. The official site Ghostbusters.com posted some really great never before seen behind the scenes photos.
