Essential Seven Bands Fronted by Uncle Jesse Katsopolis

Uncle Jesse singing to Michelle

Fuller House the new Netflix series debuts this week. In honor of the return of the Tanner clan, this weeks list focuses on everybody’s favorite Uncle Jesse. He helps Danny and Joey take care of  DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle while at the same time being cool, running the Smash Club, and be a “rocking” musician. After quitting his job as an exterminator, Uncle Jesse along with his “Rippers” rocked San Francisco, while finding time to babysit baby Michelle. Elvis was a huge influence to Jesse, from his hair to how he mimicked the King playing nursery rhymes for Michelle’s pre-school. While Jesse & the Rippers was his most successful band, Uncle Jesse has played in numerous bands in his lifetime. In order to track his career here are the Essential Seven Bands Fronted by Uncle Jesse Katsopolis, and have mercy!

The Neighbourhood, Live in Baltimore

nbhd_02

The Neighbourhood, the band behind Sweater Weather played Ram’s Head Live in Baltimore last night. While they’re still earning their chops being on the road, they put on a killer show, and had the (young female) crowd singing along to every song. They kicked off with Silver and closed with Afraid. Here’s an interesting challenge: They asked for only black & white photography, so here we go.

Of Monsters and Men at Merriweather

Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir looking right at me

Folk superstars Of Monsters and Men performed at the Merriweather Post Pavilion last night to an enthusiastic crowd. They kicked off with Dirty Paws, and because they have just one (full-length) album, the crowd knew all of their songs. Other favorites were Six Weeks, King and Lionheart, Lakehouse and of course Little Talks. Bonus points for not closing with that one, and for getting straight to the encores without any BS.
This was an amazing show, and the energy was pure and bountiful.

Two Freaks, One Leash – KORN in concert

Jonathan Davis

We had two photographers in attendance, so we have a double serving of KORN photos for you. Two of our photographers, Mr. Stinkhead and Joshua Hoover, got their faces melted off in the pit at the Fillmore Silver Spring on Tuesday night. It was great seeing the return of Brian “Head” Welch after his extended absence. With the energy and togetherness on the stage no one could tell that Head had been missing from the band for several years. KORN played for almost two hours, and the (all ages) crowd was eating it up. Seriously, there was a seven year old kid in cornrows.
05222013 - Korn 9

Starting off the show with some old school Korn tracks such as Blind and Ball Tongue got the crowd pumping from the first cymbal taps. From that point on the building was a seething mass of anger, pain, excitement, heat, and joy. This was Korn at their best. The setlist also featured many favorites like Freak on a Leash, Falling Away from Me and Got the Life, but a sweet surprise was the Floyd cover Another Brick in the Wall. It’s been too long since KORN was touring in the area, and this show proved that they had the drive, as well as the fans to take the ride.

Did you miss this show, but still need a dose of metal in your veins? You can still get tickets to the Marilyn Manson/Alice Cooper/GWAR show at Merriweather.
