Essential Seven Rejected Titles for the Third Hobbit Film

At Comicon Peter Jackson revealed that he wanted the two Hobbit films to become a trilogy. New Line jumped at the chance, and quickly made this happen. This week it was announced that the second film would be renamed to The Desolation of Smaug with the third final film titled There and Back Again. The first film will still be called  An Unexpected Journey. Having read the book, I have an idea of how the films will be structured, and it makes sense. However, I think the title The Desolation of Smaug doesn’t work very well with the other titles. The good thing is that it is far better than the Essential Seven Rejected Titles for the third Hobbit Film:

Peter Jackson Third Production Diary

Peter Jackson posted a third Production Diary with this note:

Good news and bad news today. Bad news is that we won’t be doing any Hobbit presentation at Comic Con in San Diego this year. New Line and Warner Bros were very happy to support a presentation, but I declined, simply because I felt it was too early. There’s so much more of the films still to shoot. I just wanted to get that out there, because I’ve seen various references to the possibility of something Hobbity at Comic Con. Hate to disappoint anyone. But something tells me we will be there in force next year.

Now for the good news…

We’ve just finished a new video blog, covering a little more of the first block of shooting. So please enjoy this—at least you don’t have to travel to San Deigo to see it!

I’ve been on the go since wrapping the first shooting block, but I’m about to settle down and get into the much delayed 20 Questions. I’ve a few half-written and will get those done very, very soon! I promise!

Cheers,
Peter J

Steven Spielbergs The Adventures Tintin Teaser Trailer

I’m curious. Do people really want a Tintin film? I’m not saying anything bad about it, but I never really cared about the character. The trailer doesn’t reveal much, but the beautiful look of the film. If Spielberg and Jackson weren’t attached to this would you really care? Honestly, this does nothing for me.

The Hunt for Gollum

I watched the new fan film “The Hunt for Gollum.”  This unofficial not for profit short film was made by a group of enthusiast filmmakers, and fans of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The film was made for under $5,000, and it is one of the best fan films I have ever watched.

The story bridges the gap from LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring as Aragon embarks to find the creature Gollum on Gandolf’s request. Gollum must be found to to protect Frodo’s identity.

You can watch the film @ TheHuntforGollum.com
