Sesame Street used to be the kind of dirty city block I grew up on, full of kids running around, and complete with a grouchy guy digging through the garbage. It started way back in 1969, more than 40 years ago now. Since then it’s definitely been gentrified. If you watch the show today nobody is hanging out on the front stoop. No one asks “Who are the people in your neighborhood?” They know!
Recently DVDs of Old School Sesame Street episodes were released to show kids these days, “Look how cool Sesame Street was when I was a kid!” That is why this weeks list features the Essential Seven Old School Sesame Street Moments.

Hasbro announced today a new partnership with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street. This 10-year global strategic alliance between the two companies will give Hasbro the rights to manufacture and market a wide-range of toys and co-branded games based on the beloved characters of Sesame Street. The range of products, featuring Elmo, Big Bird, Abby Cadabby and Cookie Monster, Grover, among others, will be designed to simultaneously entertain and educate young children. New Sesame Street products from Hasbro’s PLAYSKOOL and games brands will start to roll out to stores in early 2011.
