Essential Seven Franchise Remakes / Reboots That Worked

Early this week the trailer for the Footloose remake hit the web. The question has to be asked does a remake of a successful film from the ’80s need to be made? Obviously the answer is no. It shows the lack of creativity with Hollywood. That doesn’t mean that remakes / reboots are bad. I think some franchise’s need a good reboot in the ass. Franchise’s become stale, and need a new point of view. Remaking a previous Essential Seven list, here are the Essential Seven Franchise Remakes / Reboots That Worked:

Their lives were ruined when Juliet falls into a hole, and killed by a nuclear explosion. She can never celebrate Valentine’s Day again. Their love ended in tragedy.  That is why this week we are going to examine the Essential Seven Tragic Couples:

Star Trek Mr. Potato Heads

Well it was bound to happen we now have Star Trek Mr. Potato Heads! According to StarTrek.com:

PPW Toys will release Star Trek Mr. Potato Head collectible figures in a series of TOS-centric sets, and they’ll kick it off with Captain Kirk—going from stud to spud—and his old Klingon foe, Kor. Subsequent sets will include Mr. Spock and Lt. Uhura, for example, and they may also feature familiar TOS equipment and Enterprise components.

These aren’t being released by Hasbro so my guess is that you will only be able to get these online.

Essential Seven Star Trek Voyager EMH Doctor Moments

My favorite character on Star Trek Voyager was the EMH Doctor portrayed by Robert Picardo. A holographic character allowed the writers and Robert to explore an entire new direction in story telling. The Doctor could place himself in any environment, and change personalities with just a little re-programming. Of course, they had to invent the mobile emitter to get him out of the medical bay and holodeck. The Doctor was more than just  holographic projections manipulated by photons. He was a well written, defined character that had an Essential Seven Star Trek EMH Doctor Moments:
