I have been collecting the MattyCollector Ghostbusters stuff with caution. I can’t afford to go whole hog and get everything, so I’m picking and choosing. (And you still got Walter Peck?! you’re probably asking yourself) Well yes, I really wanted the containment unit for display. Check out my pics and review below.
So, I don’t think anyone sees this as anything but the Ghost Containment Unit (toy) and Walter Peck (accessory). The toy is cleanly sculpted, and the front door lowers and you can insert a trap. Peck himself is articulated in the Movie Master style, and though his likeness isn’t perfect, it’s pretty clear who it is. His suit jacket is a soft rubber so you can twist his torso a bit. Yes, it’s true. This man has no dick.
I guess the big question is, is it worth $30 ($20 plus shipping and tax) for a basic background piece and tertiary dude-in-a-suit? Kinda. It is worth $20 (total) it’s only kinda worth $30. That kinda coming from the fact that I spend $30 on it now, or I don’t get it. Will Mattel sucker punch us and offer the containment unit in stores (in the fabled four pack maybe?) so there’s no shipping? Time will tell.
I really like that they included a trap (ALL of the Ghostbusters should come with a trap, but they don’t) The included trap does not open up however (and it doesn’t have the cable and foot pedal). Both style traps fit into the front-loader. I kinda wish there was the main power switch that shuts it all down, or maybe some of the bricks were popping out a little bit. It’s good, but it’s not SUPER AWESOME WOW!!1!!. (which would be closer to being worth $30)
I can’t decide if its worth $30 to you or not. I can tell you I don’t regret buying it, I like how it displays with my other Ghostbusters. Part of me is apprehensive that it’ll be offered later.
