Wrestlemania XXV DVD

I haven’t been following WWE wrestling for years (fifteen years to be exact). I didn’t realize that this is the 25th anniversary of Wrestlemania. Watching the Wrestlemania 25 DVD I was shocked at how uneventful the show was. This was a celebration of 25 years of WWE entertainment! Luckily for fans, the DVD is well produced with some good special features.

The Matches
Wrestlemania 25 featured eight matches with a double main event. The first was a singles match for the WWE Championship featuring the champion, Triple H, defeating Randy Orton to retain his title. The second match was a Triple Threat match for the World Heayweight Championship. John Cena defeated the champion Edge and challenger The Big Show to win the title. The undercard matches featured The Undertaker battling Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy in an Extreme Rules match, a Money in the Bank ladder match won by CM Punk and a very strange match featuring Chris Jericho versus Roddy Piper, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka in a WWE Hall of Fame match. My favorite match was the 25 Diva Battle Royal to crown the First-ever Miss Wrestlemania!

Special Features
As stated earlier the DVD has some good special features. On the second disc is a nice retrospective of all the past Wrestlemanias with a 3 minute highlight reel of key matches. The third disc includes the entire WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Inductees included Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Koko B. Ware, and Stone Cold Steve Austin!

I felt very old after watching Wrestlemania XXV. With the exception of the WWE Hall of Fame match participants, I only knew the Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H. In fact, I only remember him as Hunter Hearst Helmsley! Also, can somebody tell me the difference between the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship?

I enjoyed catching up with the WWE even though the event wasn’t nearly as eventful as the Wrestlemania’s I remember. For some reason Triple H can’t match the celebrations of Hulk Hogan. If you love WWE this is a great DVD to pick up. Older fans, like me who haven’t followed the WWE, will enjoy the retrospective of the past 25 Wrestlemania highlights.
