Diamond Select Toys' Civil War Wolverine, Serenity's Mal, and Beowulf Busts.
With Mr. Stinkhead
Our collection of DST Busts are growing. Earlier we checked out The Unicron Statue from Transformers the Movie, and the Spider-Man IIIVenom Transformation bust. Now we're looking at three new ones. Civil War Wolverine, Mal and Beowulf. Detailed and solid, though they're not action figures, they still look great in your collection.
Civil War Wolverine I love the sculpt on this Wolverine. The explosion base is the perfect blend of comic book illustration and 3D sculpt. The paint job gives it a vibrant, yet stylized look. Wolvie's claws are dynamically splayed so that they look great from any angle. The energy and rage really come through. Kudos to Dig Deep Entertainment on the sculpt. This is a company to keep an eye on. The art really comes alive in this piece, and whether you're a Wolvie fan, or collecting the whole Civil War line, this one is a keeper. This one comes with a certificate of authenticity and is one of 2000 pieces.
Mal from Firefly/Serenity I really enjoyed the Firefly/Serenity universe (Thanks Lando), I found the stories to be original and the characters to be funny and genuine. But I thought we got a little shortchanged in the action figure department. Enter this bust of Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds, and my merchandising fix is a little more satiated. Action figures of regular people are never as interesting as monsters and robots, but this bust of our space-duck captaining hero seems just right. His glare is fixed, his hair is slightly mussed, and his left arm is firmly behind his back. This is not a defensive position, this is a "Get off my goddamn ship" stance. It's perfectly fitting. Sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios, this piece is clearly Mal, and it looks great on your desk. This too comes with a certificate of authenticity and is one of 1000 pieces.
Beowulf I haven't seen the movie Beowulf yet, however it's incredible 3D CGI and action place it on my "Gotta Netflix" list. This bust is a calm, pensive Beowulf. Though I would have picked an attacking Beowulf, this one is fitting in that it's stoic, like a statue honoring the iconic hero. The facial expression is nice, but I love the detail on the armor, every angle is covered, all the way down to the chainmail. Limited to 2000 pieces, Beowulf is also sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios.
