The Real Scoop:
Fluxx is an interesting game that gets its name from the fact that the rules are constantly in a state of flux.
You start the game with only the basic rules in play: Draw 1, Play 1. You draw a card and then play one following any instructions on the card. There are 4 types of cards in the deck: Action, New Rule, Keepers, and Goal cards. Action cards tell you to do something. New Rule cards change the rules of game play. Goal cards list the victory conditions. Keepers are items or ideas that can be required as victory conditions of the current goal.
As play progresses and new rules are put into play, things can get rather hairy. When the rules Draw 5 and Play 2 are in play, your hand can get quite unruly.
The game play does not require your attention if it is not your turn so you can maintain a conversation with the other people playing making Fluxx a great party game. The game play flows well and maintains an excellent pace.
Overall, Fluxx is a relatively simple game with rules that are simple to learn and adapt to. Did I mention that it was a lot of fun, too?
