Mega Bloks Pyrates
by Lando da Pimp
One of the sweetest toys at Toy Fair this year was the new Megabloks Pyrates line skeleton ship. With the release of this massive ship eminent, Megabloks sent along a few of the new micro Pyrates sets. Check them out:
Pyrates Mutiny Isle
Encased in a Skull, this micro set contains two Privateer figures as well as a very detailed Skeleton Pyrate. Both Privateer figures come with muskets and have detachable limbs to re-enact a shark attack. On the dock is a canon that fires a cannonball.
The packaging for the Mutiny Isle is really great. The entire set fits inside a plastic skull making it easy to keep the multiple parts together. If you lift the eye patch you can see a figure encased in the eye. Nice touch.
Pyrates Buried Bounty
This micro set comes packaged in a small brown fabric treasure pouch. The set is very simple complete with a Privateer and Skeleton battling on a small island. The set also contains a treasure box and gold coin.
Overall Thoughts
I am rather new to the world of Mega Bloks and I am finding that I like the design of the Pyrates line. The skeleton figures however are outstanding with really nicely sculpted skulls. Utilizing the building blok base in combination with playset items provide the ability to mix and match with other Pyrates sets. These sets are fun but for me they are too small and want a large set to interact with.
