Over the last year expectations have been running high upon the release of Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto IV. Now that the game is here, I can easily say that the game is nothing but amazing and exceeded my expectations.
Like GTA IV's predessors the game is set in a redesigned Liberty City, that is based heavily on New York City. You control Niko Bellic, a Serbian veteran of the Bosnian War who arrives in the United State in the search for the "American Dream." What he finds is that his cousin Ramon has been lying to him about the wealth that was promised to be awaiting him. As Niko you slowly make your way up in Liberty City's underworld.
GTA IV is structured similarly to previous games in the series. The gameplay consists of third-person shooter and driving game in a large, open-environment to explore. To progress through the game you must complete storyline missions given to you by the various underworld characters. You begin by working for your cousin Roman slowly making your way up in the world. However, you can easily just explore the world on your own. This includes dating a girl Michelle, frequenting the strip clubs, and even bowling. Your option are endless. I tend to enjoy driving around causing havoc, attempting to enter the closed off parts of the city.
The biggest difference with this version of GTA is the inclusion of online multiplayer world. Fifteen different multiplayer options are available including team deathmatch, Conp n' Crooks, turf war, and GTA Racing.
Player and game hosts have control over variables such as character look, police presences, traffic, and location of the games.
The anticipation for the next GTA game was so high that I was counting down the days for its release. Does it live up to the hipe? Absolutely. Grand Theft Auto IV has outdone previous versions. The world of Liberty City continues to expand with lots to see. In case you haven't figured it out yet, Grand Theft Auto IV is the game of the year. I can't possibly see another game being as immersive, and exciting. Even after completion you can still play long after you complete the story. Don't miss out.
