Man V. Food, Season 3 DVD Review

The Travel Channels big hit series “Man V. Food” continues to find the best food in America, while also doing a weekly eating challenge that you will either wish to try, or be completely disgusted that somebody would eat that much food.

Season Three finds Adam Richman sampling food from San Diego to Niagara Falls and Kansas City. Each location finds Adam challenging food for domination.

When watching the show I usually think about if I could handle  the challenges. If it deals with spicy foods I would stay away, but if the food looks good I would be open to trying it. I have never been grossed out until the third season episode to Oklahoma City. The episode actually made me change the channel.  Richman stops by Edmond’s Steak & Catfish Barn where he eats 28 pieces of catfish. I love fried fish like the next man, but I had a hard time watching somebody eat that much fried food. The same episode features him eating a T-Bone steak and fried-onion burger.

Another episode I found a bit much was at Mick & Angelo’s Eatery & Bar in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Adam tackled with success the  7-pound Italian Challenge. It features a 10-course meal consisting of lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, canelloni, manicotti, hot Italian sausage, chicken parmesan, a whole loaf of garlic bread, a cup of Italian wedding soup, a salad, and an apple crisp dessert. All of which has to be eaten in 90 minutes. That’s a lot of carbs!

Adam as the host is the real draw to this show. He has a great personality that makes you as the viewer to cheer him on. The show can have repeat viewings, and without commercials flies by quickly. The DVD contains the Miami Live Special as an extra. The real extra I would love to see is an episode that shows what Adam eats when he is not doing the challenges!
