Poe’s X-Wing Fighter

Poe Dameron’s X-Wing fighter, seen in Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is currently at the Air & Space Museum’s Udvar Hazy Center (Dulles), in their restoration hangar. It’s only visible for the next few days, come Monday it gets packed up and won’t be seen again until unveiled at its new permanent home in Washington, DC. Click below for more pics.

This is the practical prop used in the filming of Rise of Skywalker for actor Oscar Isaac to climb in and out of. It was donated to the Air & Space museum last year and is currently getting the special treatment to prepare it for its eventual display at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum’s downtown location. I went and took a bunch of photos and share them with you now.
It was cool seeing the X-Wing (foreground) and Neil Armstong’s Apollo 11 capsule (background) in the same room. I enjoy how the Smithsonian recognizes both scientific and cultural icons.
This is your last weekend to see the X-Wing at Udvar Hazy, but if you miss it, you can see it when it premieres in the Hall of Flight in the downtown Air & Space location in 2022.
You can see more photos from my visit below, but first check out this Tested video with Adam Savage
