CustomCon 28, Day 1

Our friends at Raving Toy Maniac host the semi-annual CustomCon. Day 1 Started today.

What is CustomCon, you ask? CustomCon is a special semi-annual presentation of new custom toy creations by customizers around the globe. A decade in the running, it’s still going strong. Inspired by the presentations of new product by legitimate manufacturers at Toy Fair and other trade shows, CustomCon is a “fake” convention, whereby customizers present their latest creations and recipes as if unveiling a new line of real toys to retailers. It’s always a lot of fun, for both the viewers and the participants.

If this is your first exposure to a CustomCon, click here to see what’s been offered over the past 27 CustomCons.

Day One:

The Boys

Preacher Minimates

Thunderbolts: Rise of the Fallen

Marvel Legends Morlock Nation

Green Hornet Through The Ages

Custom of the Week

The custom this week comes to us via Mr. Fast Freddie. The guy does some amazing work, but sometimes he outdoes even himself. Now everyone knows I love Hulk. I also love great customs. So, a great custom of Hulk? Well I’ll let you do the math on that one.

Now this isn’t your traditional Hulk. It’s not really even Hulk. It’s puny Banner. A must have for any Hulk display, though, and since the last Banner figure was horribly undersized, it makes sense to make one.

Essential Seven Tools Every Customizer Needs

Manufactured toys aren’t perfect. As much as companies try, they can’t satisfy everyone. That where customizing comes in. We fans can modify a figure to suit our individual tastes. Whether it’s as simple as repainting or completely sculpting a figure from scratch, customizing can solidify your collection as “yours”, and hobbies are proven to reduce the risk of heart disease. This doesn’t happen by magic, though. You need the right tools for the job.

Custom of the Week

We are starting a new feature called custom of the week. It’ll feature customs from sites like Figure Realm and The Toy Soup Forums (those are just two I frequent. If you’d like to suggest some other sites to check out great customs, post them in the comments).

I’m not going for new customs. Even if I see something made back when dinosaurs walked the Earth, if it’s cool enough, it’ll be featured. You can even post links to your own customs in the comments section during that week’s featured custom. The only one out of the running is myself.
